One of the endangered animals of Himalayas ( and also Karakoram range)-
mountain ranges of Central and South Asia., which is similar to Leopard. Area likes Himalyan steppes, scrub, forest and pastures above the tree line between 1800 m to 3600 m elevation.
Behavior: Nocturnal and crepuscular. Shy in nature and den in hollow of rock. Attitudinal migration for food.
Diet: Wild goat, sheep, musk deer, small mammals or even domestic livestock.
Breeding: 98-105 days, 1-5 young born at a time.
Identification: Head and Body 100-110 cm. Tail 83-90 cm. Light grey upper parts. Dark spots on head and lower limbs. rosettes on the body. Short limbs with large feet.
