Applying through Nepal for Tibet Travel Permit is often easy process. Before applying for Tibet Travel Permit, looking at this following points
* Embassy will need your original passport and you need to stay at least 3 days in Kathmandu, so better to have 4 days plan.
*First need invitation letter issues from Tibetan agency. (no worry your travel agency will manage it )
* Must be pre-booked Trip including Guide and all the travel destination going to visit.
* Our side Lhasa need additional permits, (no worry travel agency will manage it )
* travel are not allowed to use public transport outside Lhasa
* Carry Chinese currency in/out 20000 yen and USD 5000 or its equivalent
* Illegal to bring printed material, film, tapes or related to material related to China politics, culture etc. ( for example maps and books printed in Dharmalsa of India cause a serious problem )
*No things are allowed to take which is made before 1795 and but things made before 1949 is also considered as the country antique but can take our only after having certificate.
*While travelling from Nepal customs official will confiscate lonely Planet Tibet guides book, if you carry it
*Carrying the any materiel related with Dalai Lama, will serious issue for you or even jail sentences .
*No Tibetan National flag
*A valid Chinese visa is required.
*visa office of Hattisar will open from 9:45 am to 11 am Monday to Friday ( consult with your Nepali agent)
Travelling to Tibet need a Tibet Travel Permit (TTP) issued by Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB). Nepali agencies will charge around USD 85 ( depends upon agency) per person for a group visa. US/ Candadain Citizens pay USD 177/135 at least 3 working days for processing. The embassy will required a original passport, invitation letter issued from your Tibetan agency. This permit are for standard 30 day single entry tourist visa in 3 to 5 working days.
