In past days before Kathmandu takes the shape of city lots of temples increased its beauty. The valley is the central heart of every rural area and
visitors from all around.
Kathmandu valley covers an area of 50.7sq.km (19.6 sq mi). It is surrounded by other sub- metropolitan cities: Patan, Bhaktapur, and Kirtipur. According to Swayambhu Purana, Kathamdnu valley was once a huge and deep lake Named “ Nagadaha” with full of snakes. The Bodhisatwa Manjusri cut the side part (Chovar Dada) of the lake with his sword and let the water pass and from the valley. Then this beautiful valley was formed. It is known for Manjupattan and Dharmakar the ruler of the Valley.
The name of Kathmandu is derived from the Kasthamandap temple (destroy by Earthquake 2015)at Kathmandu Darbar square. The temple was built in 1596 by Biseth (time of King Laxmi Narsingh Malla). The city is also called Kantipur sometimes, during medieval times. The Newari people an indigenous community called Kathmandu by Yem Desa (Patan and Bhaktapur Yala Desa and Khwopa Desa respectively). The archaeological excavations in Kathmandu found the statue in Maligaon dated back to 185AD.
The habitant Newari people, which are the oldest indigenous community of Kathmandu and followed both Hindu and Buddhist religion. The temple around Kathmandu is mostly built by lichhivi, Mallas or Newari Kings. The living goddess –Kumari- of Kathmandu at Human Dokha popularly known as ‘Kathmandu Durbar Square’, it is the main attraction of Kathmandu. At the time of July or August the festival Indra Jatra; you will see the thousands of people gather here for worshiping Kumari and celebrating Indra Jatra.
Pashupatinath temple
Pashupatinath temple is where Hindus from all around the world come to worship. Shivaratri is the main festival for all the Hindus around the globe. It is on the bank of the Bagmati River, 5 km northeast of Kathmandu. The Temple was on UNESCO World Heritage Sites after 1979. The ashrams, images, inscriptions, lingas helps us know how hindu temple looks.
In the 15th century by Lichhavi King Shupuspa, built the temple.

Kathmandu Durbar square
The royal palace Mallas and Shan kings is the central of attraction in Kathmandu. The site sees quadrangles, revealing, courtyards and temples and Hanuman. The Darbar square also known as Hanuman Durbar square has a statue of Hanuman at the entrance of the palace.
Bouddhanath
It is stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal. It lies about 11 km from the northeastern of Kathmandu. Since 1979, Boudhanath is in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The stupa entombs the remains of Kassapa Buddha. The Stupa was an ancient trade route to Tibet and Nepal. The massive mandala is the largest spherical stupa in Nepal.
Swayambhunath
Monkey Temple lies atop a hill in the west of Kathmandu city. Swayambhunath occupies a central position, for the Buddhist Pilgrimage sites. The day-to-day religious activities are practiced by Buddhist Newars. It consist of a variety of shrines,temples, stupas, museum, library and monasteries. The Swayambhunath compositions and details arts comes form Vajrayana Tradition of Newar Buddhism.
The Monkey temple has two entry points from the stair case from east (365 steps) and south east entrance by road.
Twin towns and sister cities The Twin towns are form of legal agreement between cities, countries, provinces states to promote cultural and commercial bond. The 2 World war in 1947 had more influence the concept of twin towns; for better understanding between cultures & tradition, for peace & reconciliation, to encourage tourism.
